cilia
climbed around your
cheekbones and
in the sunlight they would
glow
white. they
climbed
up
up
over
your temples
and brow
where they stopped—
and wove
into
thick
brown
strands
(each one half
a centimeter long),
so

r lashes
also alternating
thick blonde
and yellow ochre,
dramatically
bowing behind
double apertures
that
focused
so
intently
(always intently)
and always, almost
always
on
me.
