Talk about fresh thinking. My wheels are turning and I dont exactly have the time for it, but...
I think the thing with religions and Christians not believing in karma is kind of bullshit. Because they tell us not to believe in Revelation growing up (Catholic), or at least warn us against reading it. So you grow up thinking notions of karma are only mildly legitimate. Yet as you get older, you're inundated--inculcated--with the idea that the golden rule rules all: treat others as you'd like to be treated. Well, shucks.
Seems to me that's the same as the karmic view that what one does in the universe turns into what one gets back from the universe. It's a bit heady, but stick with me. If we are to believe that treating others one way is the right way, and treating others another way is the wrong way, then that gives us the impression that there is a reason for that behavior, or its opposite. The answer, to Christians, is eternal joy--or eternal pain. Yipes!
So karma, in its morphed form, exists, but in this Americanized way, the punishment or reward for bad or good respective behaviors is...well...unspoken.
Hush hush, little sparrow.
